Elstead Somerton Single Wall Lantern - Aged Brass

The Somerton has a wide, tilted brim and a swan neck arm that curves out from the wall before dropping straight down to the lamp, giving it a stance closer to an old railway platform light than a typical cottage porch lantern.

This version is finished in aged brass, a warm brown gold tone rather than a bright polished shine, so it settles in against stone, brick or painted render without looking too new.

How it works

A single E27 bulb sits inside a sealed glass jar beneath the metal brim, shielded from rain while still letting the light spill out and down. The arm gives the head enough projection to throw light across a doorway rather than straight down at the wall.

Where it works best

Fit it either side of a front door, along a boundary wall, or near a gate, anywhere a bit of swing and character suit the setting better than a flat modern fitting.

Somerton shares its bones with the Sheldon in the Elstead range, though its brim is wider and the arm more rounded, giving it a slightly softer outline.
