Elstead's Picture Light Single Small swaps a flat black finish for something with more depth, an aged, burnished tone that reads more antique gold than black, catching the light rather than absorbing it. It's built to sit above a smaller framed print or mirror and throw its beam downward onto the artwork.

The finish has a warm bronze undertone under the black, so it suits a room where the metalwork already leans toward brass, bronze or aged gold rather than cool black or chrome. Every surface, the backplate, the curved arm and the cylindrical shade, carries the same aged treatment, so the whole fitting reads as one piece rather than a mix of finishes.

How It Works

A single E14 lamp holder sits inside the cylindrical shade, held on a short curved arm that's adjusted to your chosen angle by a thumbscrew behind the shade. Loosen it, tilt the shade up or down, and tighten it again once the beam falls where you want it, usually straight down onto the picture below rather than up the wall. The bulb itself isn't included, so you'll need to fit your own E14 lamp before it can be wired in.

Where It Works Best

This is the smaller of Elstead's two picture light sizes, scaled for artwork that doesn't need the full length two lamp fitting, a single framed print, a mirror, or a narrower canvas. It works well above a piece in a living room or hallway, along a run of prints in a dining room, or over a certificate or map in a home office, wherever a warm antique tone suits the frame better than a colder finish would.

Questions People Ask

Does this picture light come with a bulb? No. It takes one E14 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to fit your own before it's wired in.

Can I angle the light up or down? Yes. The shade sits on a thumbscrew joint just below the arm, so you can loosen it, tilt the shade to the angle you want, and tighten it back up.

Is this picture light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E14 bulb. A bulb that isn't dimmable won't respond to a dimmer switch.

What's the difference between this and Elstead's larger picture light? This single lamp version is the smaller of two sizes, built for artwork that doesn't need a full length two lamp fitting. The mechanism and proportions are the same, just scaled down for a single lamp.
