A picture light does one job well: throw a warm, even wash of light down across a picture, mirror or map rather than lighting the whole wall around it. This large two light version in brushed brass carries a long tubular shade on a curved arm, angled to sit just above a big canvas, an oversized mirror or a run of framed prints, so what's on the wall gets seen properly once the sun goes down.

A warm, satin brass finish

The steel body is finished in brushed brass rather than polished, so it catches light with a soft matte warmth instead of a shine. It reads as quiet hardware next to a frame rather than another fitting competing for attention, and it pairs well with dark wood frames, black metal frames or gilt edges alike.

How it works

A curved swan neck arm carries the shade out from a square wall plate, and a knurled thumbscrew at the elbow lets you loosen the joint and tilt both lamp holders up or down until the beam lands where you want it. Two E14 lamp holders sit inside the shade; bulbs aren't included, so fit LED candle bulbs to suit. Fit dimmable bulbs and it will work on a standard dimmer circuit.

This is the larger of Elstead's two picture light sizes, built for a big canvas, an oversized mirror or a wide run of framed prints along a stairwell or hallway. It also earns its place above a fireplace, over a console table, or in a study or office lined with artwork and bookshelves, anywhere a piece deserves better than the spill from a ceiling light.

Questions People Ask

Does this picture light come with bulbs? No. It takes two E14 bulbs, which aren't included, so fit LED candle bulbs of your choice.

Can I angle the light after it's fitted? Yes. A knurled thumbscrew at the arm's elbow lets you loosen the joint and tilt both lamp holders up or down to aim the beam.

Is this picture light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. It will then work on a standard dimmer switch circuit.
