A lantern built to sit flush

The Parish Half Lantern takes Elstead's traditional six sided lantern shape and cuts the depth right back, keeping the pointed cap and stepped hood but losing the bracket arm entirely. It is built for the spots where a lantern needs to sit close to the wall rather than project out into the way.

Cast in black

This version is cast in aluminium and finished in a deep matte black, with a lightly textured surface across the hood and frame rather than a flat gloss. A clear glass panel faces forward so the lamp stays visible, while the glass around the sides is patterned to soften and spread the light rather than throw it in one sharp direction.

How it works

With no arm to account for, the lantern fixes straight to the wall and projects only around 13.7cm from the surface, a fraction of what a full arm mounted lantern needs. Inside is a single E27 lamp holder, not supplied, and the fitting dims smoothly once you fit a dimmable bulb. It is wired as a Class I fitting, so it needs a proper earth connection, and we recommend having it installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

Its flat profile earns its keep anywhere headroom or clearance is tight, such as under a porch canopy, beside a garage door, or tucked below a low soffit where a lantern with an arm would stick out too far. The wide, six sided spread also suits a pair either side of a doorway, marking out the entrance without crowding it.
