Not every porch or covered doorway has room for a lantern that swings out on an arm. The Parish Flush Lantern sits close against its surface instead, keeping the same traditional hexagonal silhouette as the rest of the range without the extra projection of the arm mounted versions.

Elstead casts this Parish in black finished die cast aluminium, topped with a hexagonal cap and finial that gives it the profile of a period carriage lantern rather than a plain box. A clear glazed panel sits at the front so the lamp is visible head on, while the five surrounding panels are pressed in a softly ribbed glass that scatters the light rather than sending it straight out at eye level.

How It Works

The whole fitting mounts flat to the wall or ceiling with no arm or bracket standing proud, which is what lets it sit so close to its surface. It takes a single E27 LED lamp, not supplied, and fitting a dimmable lamp lets it run anywhere from full brightness down to a soft background glow on a compatible dimmer circuit.

Where It Works Best

The flat mounting makes it the one to reach for above a porch, tucked under a low eave, or set over an archway, anywhere a projecting lantern would sit too close to head height or catch on a door. It's IP44 rated, so it copes with rain and damp on an exposed exterior wall, which suits it just as well to a front door, a side passage, a gateway or a garden wall as to a sheltered porch.
