Elstead Parish Mini Single Up Wall Lantern - Black

A lantern that lights the way up, not down

Most wall lanterns hang from their bracket and cast their light downward. The Parish Mini Single Up flips that arrangement, mounting the same six sided lantern head the right way up so its light climbs the wall towards the eaves instead of pooling on the ground below. It is a small change in orientation that produces an entirely different beam, and a genuinely useful option wherever a door or path is already lit from elsewhere and what is missing is light on the wall itself.

Black, die cast aluminium

The lantern head and bracket are cast in aluminium and finished in a fine textured black coating, so the surface reads as flat and matte rather than glossy. Clear glass panels run the full height of the lantern head, glazed close to the corner posts so the bulb's light escapes with minimal interruption from the frame around it.

How it works

A single E27 lamp holder sits behind the glass, wired to Class I standard and enclosed to an IP44 rating so it can stay outside through wet weather. The whole head lifts clear of the wall on a short, stepped arm fixed to a hexagonal cast backplate, keeping the glass and bulb away from the surface it is mounted on. Fit a dimmable bulb and the fitting will dim; a standard bulb will simply switch on and off as normal.

Where it works best

Because the light throws upward rather than down, Parish Mini Single Up suits a covered porch, the underside of an overhang, or a wall beside a garage or outbuilding entrance, where an upward wash reads better than a spot cast down over a doorway or path. Pair it with the down facing Parish Mini on the same elevation, or either side of a porch, and the two sit together without looking mismatched, since they share the same lantern head and simply point in different directions.
