The Old Bailey large wall lantern skips the leaded glass and diamond patterning of a classic coach lantern for something plainer: flat panes of clear glass in a squared brass case, built to put the two bulbs inside on show rather than hide them behind a pattern.

Aged brass, built to weather

Solid brass, finished in an aged tone that already reads settled rather than freshly polished, with a stepped chimney style cap on top nodding to the older lantern designs the range takes its name from. The glass panes sit flush inside the brass frame, so the case reads as one squared block rather than a lantern with a separate lid on top.

How It Works

Fit two E27 bulbs, dimmable LEDs work well if your switch supports it, and have the fitting wired in by a registered electrician since it connects directly to the mains rather than plugging in. It carries an IP44 rating, so it copes with coastal air and driving rain without trouble. Some simple assembly is needed once it arrives, mostly seating the glass panels correctly into the brass frame.

Where It Works Best

Either side of a porch, above a garage, or anywhere a larger exterior fitting would look proportionate, the scale and the twin bulbs make this a fitting for a more prominent spot than a single door light, somewhere it can properly announce an entrance rather than just mark it.
