A traditional lantern on the chain
The Norfolk Single Chain Lantern hangs from a black chain rather than sitting on a wall bracket, so it drops down from a porch ceiling or gateway beam the way an old coach lantern would. The hexagonal shape, domed cap and pointed drop finial all keep it firmly in classic territory.
Black with diamond leaded glass
Finished in matte black, each of the six glass panels is leaded in a diamond pattern, several separate pieces of glass per side, which breaks the bulb's light into a softer, more textured glow rather than one flat beam. It is the same detailing you would expect from an old fashioned street or porch lamp.
How It Works
It takes a single E27 bulb, LED or otherwise, so you can choose the tone of light and dim it if you fit a dimmable lamp on a compatible dimmer switch. The lantern hangs from 49cm of supplied chain, and because it wires directly into the ceiling or beam it should always be installed and earthed by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
With its chain shortened or let out fully, the lantern head sits between 51.5cm and 60cm below the ceiling, which gives some flexibility for porches of different heights. It is built for covered outdoor spots such as porches, gateways and covered walkways rather than fully open, exposed weather.
