A lantern built to stand on its own

The Miners lantern shape is instantly recognisable: a curved carry handle, a tapered glass shade and a crossed wire guard borrowed from the working lamps miners once carried underground. This pedestal version swaps the wall bracket or chain for a fixed base plate, so instead of hanging it stands upright on a flat surface, ready to mark out an entrance or a boundary.

Old Bronze finish

Finished in Old Bronze, a deep, slightly mottled brown that reads almost black in low light and picks up warmer tones when the sun catches it. The steel frame and cap have a soft, worked texture rather than a smooth lacquer, and it's paired with a clear seeded glass shade full of tiny trapped bubbles that scatter the light rather than showing a bare bulb.

How It Works

Inside the shade is a single E27 lamp holder built for an LED lamp, which isn't supplied, so you choose your own bulb and set the warmth and brightness yourself. Fit a dimmable LED and it can be used with a compatible dimmer switch. It's rated Class I, meaning the fitting needs a proper earth connection at installation. The crossed wire guard around the glass is fixed in place as part of the frame rather than a removable cage.

Where It Works Best

Because it stands on a base plate rather than hanging from a bracket, this is the version to use on gate posts, pier caps, the top of a low wall or the corners of a terrace, anywhere you want a light to mark a point rather than illuminate a doorway. With an IP44 rating it's built to handle open air locations through wind and rain.
