Elstead Matlock Single Wall Lantern - Old Bronze

A lantern with the shape of an old torch

The Matlock takes its silhouette from a medieval torch lantern, a slender box tapering up to a pyramid cap and an acorn shaped finial. The glass panels are seeded and deliberately uneven, catching light in a way that feels closer to old glass than a modern pane.

Old Bronze

This finish is a deep, dark bronze over a cast aluminium frame, close enough to black in most light that the seeded glass and finial detailing are what catch the eye instead. A hinged door on one side gives access to the lamp holder for changing the bulb.

How It Works

A single E14 LED bulb sits inside the box (not supplied), and the seeded glass softens its glow into a gentle pool of light rather than throwing a hard beam. It runs on Class I wiring, so needs an earth connection, and will dim if fitted with a dimmable LED.

Where It Works Best

Its scale and soft glow suit a garden gate, a side passage or a porch, anywhere that calls for a small amount of warm light rather than a full flood. The seeded glass keeps the beam close and diffuse, so it works better as a marker for a path or door than as a security light.
