A pre-Georgian lantern for a compact doorway
The Mansion House Single keeps the domed roof, pierced brass frieze and four sided glass case of Elstead's larger Mansion House lanterns, but scales everything down for a single bulb. It suits a front door, side return or porch where the larger versions would crowd the space, without losing any of the period detail.
Finished in aged brass
The brass is aged then lacquered to hold its colour, giving a warm, slightly smoky gold rather than a bright polished shine. Expect the tone to mellow a touch further with age and weather, which suits the lantern's traditional shape rather than working against it.
How it works
A single E27 bulb sits on a brass lamp holder behind clear glass panels that wrap around all four sides of the case, so light spreads outward rather than beaming in one direction. Fit a dimmable LED and the lantern will dim on a compatible switch or driver. Some simple assembly is needed to complete installation, and because it's wired in rather than plugged in, we'd always recommend a registered electrician fits it.
Where it works best
At 37.5cm tall and 22cm wide, this is the smaller of the two Mansion House sizes, suited to a standard front door, a side porch, or spaced along a run of coastal or period style exterior walls where a full sized lantern would be too much. It's rated IP44, so it stands up to rain and splashes in a sheltered or partially exposed spot outdoors.

The Mansion House belongs to Elstead's Olde England collection, a group of lantern designs based on pre-Georgian shapes. Elstead is a British decorative lighting group and distributor whose history traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and the company remains led by the Lucas family today.
