The Majin borrows its silhouette from a classic ceramic jar, then glazes it in a deep, glossy oxblood red that fades to a paler blush where the light catches the curve of the neck. It's a lamp built to be looked at as much as switched on.

The porcelain body carries a graduated glaze, rich red at the base lightening toward the neck, and sits on a black turned wood plinth with a stepped foot. Above it, the shade is a cream polycotton in a classic empire shape, edged in a burgundy and gold soutache braid that echoes the base's colour without matching it exactly.

How it works

The lamp takes a single E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits the room, including a dimmable bulb if you'd like more control over the mood.

Standing 56cm tall with a 36cm shade, the Majin has enough scale to hold its own on a console table, sideboard, or large bedside table, somewhere it can be seen properly rather than tucked into a corner.
