A lantern that lies flat against the wall
Kinsale's flush lantern keeps the six sided, pitched roof shape of the rest of the range, but drops the arm that would normally hold it out from the wall. The whole fixture sits close to the brick instead, so there is nothing reaching into a doorway or catching on a low porch roof.
Black polymer and polycarbonate
This one comes in black only, moulded from polymer with clear polycarbonate glazing rather than cast metal and glass. It is a deliberate swap for anywhere exposed to the weather, nothing here rusts, and the faceted panels take knocks better than glass would on a wall that gets brushed past.
How It Works
A single E27 lamp holder sits behind the bevelled glazing, wired on Class II with no earth connection needed. Because the lantern is flush to the wall, the light spreads forward and down rather than out to the sides, which suits a front door or a narrow side passage better than lighting up a wide driveway.
Where It Works Best
This is the one to reach for when a projecting lantern would stick out too far, an alleyway, a recessed porch, or a wall under a low eave. The polycarbonate glazing and IP44 rating mean it copes just as well on an exposed coastal wall as in a sheltered doorway.
Elstead Lighting
Kinsale is part of the Elstead Lighting range, a British lighting group whose name traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which is still led by the Lucas family today. The same lantern shape also appears elsewhere in the range as a projecting wall lantern and a matching post lantern, so it is straightforward to pair a porch light with a fitting for the gate or driveway.

Does the Kinsale flush lantern need an electrician to install? It is Class II rated with no earth connection needed, but as with any outdoor fitting we recommend a qualified electrician carries out the installation.
What bulb does the Kinsale flush lantern take? It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which is not included, so you will need to fit one before use.
Is the Kinsale flush lantern dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch even on a compatible circuit.
How far does this lantern project from the wall? Only about 12.7cm, considerably less than the projecting version of the Kinsale lantern, which makes it a better fit for narrow porches, alleyways or anywhere a wider fitting would stick out.
