A lantern with old world character
The Hereford has the kind of silhouette that never really goes out of fashion for a front door: a round lantern cage topped with a domed cap, wrapped in decorative scrollwork and set behind ribbed glass. It reads as traditional without tipping into fussy, which is why versions of this shape have lit doorways for so long.
Finished in Black
Hereford is cast in die cast aluminium and finished in a deep matte black that sits well against brick, render or stone. The glass panel is ribbed rather than flat, so the light breaks up into soft vertical lines once the bulb is on, and the scrollwork cage throws its own shadow pattern across the glass.
How It Works
It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the colour temperature and brightness that suits the spot it is going in. Wiring is Class I, meaning it needs an earthed supply, and fitting a dimmable bulb lets it run on a dimmer circuit if you have one.
Where It Works Best
Hereford is built for exterior use and rated IP23, so it suits a porch, a covered doorway or a wall either side of the front door. It also works well further into the garden, mounted along a boundary wall or beside a gate, anywhere that could use a warm, traditional glow after dark.
