Helsingor takes its cues from the tiered lanterns that line Danish harbour walls, its stacked louvre canopy shading a clear glass cylinder around a single exposed bulb. This silver version sits low on a short pedestal post fixed to a round base plate, rather than a tall lamp post, making it suited to pathways, pillars and low walls rather than a driveway entrance light.

Silver stainless steel

The body is 304 grade stainless steel, powder coated in a silver finish that reads closer to brushed metal than paint. Where the black version of Helsingor recedes into shadow after dark, this silver finish stays visible against stone, render or gravel, picking up ambient light even when the lamp itself is off.

How It Works

One E27 lamp holder sits inside the glass cylinder, held clear of the louvres by a slim central rod, and takes an LED E27 bulb which is not included. Fit a dimmable version and the lantern will respond to a dimmer switch. Wiring runs up through the pedestal post itself, and the round base plate is drilled for fixing to a wall top, pillar or low pier rather than being sunk into a lawn.

Where It Works Best

Its low 30.5cm height suits spots where a tall lamp post would dominate: spaced along the top of a garden wall, mounted on gate pillars either side of a driveway, or lining the edge of a raised bed or steps. It is IP44 rated, so it copes with rain and coastal air, and the silver finish is a natural match for render, stone or paved surfaces where a black fitting would look heavier.

Helsingor comes from Elstead, a British decorative lighting group and distributor whose roots trace back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which remains led by the Lucas family today. The range takes its name and tiered silhouette from traditional Danish harbour lanterns, reworked here in a compact pedestal format alongside taller post and wall versions in the same collection.
