The Egil 2W shares its square, minimal housing with the rest of the Egil range, but adds three horizontal slats across the face, breaking the light into bands rather than one flat panel. Mounted beside a doorway or porch, it reads as a considered fitting after dark rather than a plain utility box.

Graphite

The cast aluminium frame and slats are both finished in graphite, a dark matte tone that recedes into most exterior walls in daylight. After dark the effect reverses: the frosted diffuser glows through the gaps between the bars, throwing the light out in bands rather than as a single bright square.

How It Works

One 9W LED GX53 lamp, not included, sits behind the frosted diffuser, with the three horizontal bars across the front softening and directing the light instead of letting it spill out as a flat panel. The housing measures 14cm square and 5cm deep, so it sits close to the surface whether it's fitted to a wall or a ceiling, and it will dim if fitted with a dimmable GX53 bulb.

Where It Works Best

The banded light pattern suits spots where the fitting itself is on show, a front door, a porch, either side of a garage, somewhere the light becomes part of the look rather than just marking the way. If you'd prefer an even, unbroken glow instead of the slatted effect, the same housing is also available as the Egil 1W with a flat panel front.

Does the Egil 2W come with a bulb? No. It takes one 9W LED GX53 lamp, which isn't included, so you can choose the colour temperature that suits the space.

Can the Egil 2W be mounted on a ceiling as well as a wall? Yes. The housing is designed to work either as a wall light or a ceiling fitting, so it can go wherever suits the entrance or porch it's lighting.

Is the Egil 2W suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP54 and designed to be mounted outdoors and left exposed to the weather.
