A slatted face for a softer glow
The Egil 2W takes the same square, minimal housing as the rest of the range and adds three horizontal slats across the front, breaking the light up into bands rather than letting it show as one flat panel. It is a small change that gives the fitting a bit more presence after dark.
Graphite
The cast aluminium frame and slats are both finished in Graphite, a dark matte tone that recedes against most exterior walls in daylight. At night the effect flips, with the pale diffuser glowing through the gaps between the graphite bars.
How it works
One GX53 bulb sits behind the diffuser, and the horizontal bars across the front soften and direct the light rather than letting it spill out as a single bright square. The housing is slim, at around 14cm square and just over 5cm deep, so it stays close to the wall.
Where it works best
The slatted front suits it to more visible spots, a front door, a porch, either side of a garage, where the banded light pattern becomes part of the look rather than just a utility fitting. Rated IP54, it is designed to be mounted outdoors and left exposed to the weather.
A plainer alternative
The same housing is also available as the Egil 1W, which swaps the slats for a flat panel front if you would prefer an even, unbroken glow.
