Elstead Douille Single Table Lamp - Aged Brass

A desk lamp with a workshop pedigree

Instead of sitting the shade on top of the base like a typical table lamp, Douille holds it out and down on a curved arm, so the light lands on the desk in front of you rather than shining up at the ceiling. It is the same idea behind old library and workshop lamps, just resized for a side table or a corner of a desk.

Finished in Aged Brass across the base, stem and arm through to the lamp holder, it reads as one warm, slightly weathered metal rather than a mix of finishes. The shade is ribbed glass, open underneath so the vintage style bulb stays on show instead of being tucked out of sight.

How it works

It runs on a single E27 bulb, wired as a Class I fitting, and dims if you fit a dimmable lamp. A weighted round base keeps the whole thing steady on a desk or table without any need to fix it down.

It suits a home office desk where you want light angled down onto paperwork rather than a flat overhead glow, or a console table in a hallway or living room where the shape works as a piece of furniture in its own right as much as a light source.
