A harbour lantern reworked for the front door

The Copenhagen Single Wall Lantern borrows its shape from an old quayside light: a flared cap sitting over two slatted rings and a rounded glass shade, each layer a little wider than the one below it. Instead of hanging from a post, it reaches out from the wall on a slim straight arm, so the lantern head sits clear of the brickwork rather than flush against it.

Black finish

The body is 304 grade stainless steel, powder coated in a deep matt black that is built to shrug off rain and UV rather than a painted finish that will chalk and fade outdoors. The glass shade beneath it is clear with a subtly textured, almost pebbled surface, so the bulb inside stays visible while the light itself is softened rather than thrown in a single hard beam.

How it works

A single E27 lamp holder sits inside the glass shade. The bulb itself isn't included, so you can choose your own colour temperature or fit a dimmable lamp if the fitting is going on a dimmer circuit. The lantern is fixed directly to the wall on its own bracket, wired in the same way as the porch or exterior light it's replacing.

Where it works best

It suits a front or back door, a garage wall, or either side of a gate, and the tiered harbour shape leans toward coastal, cottage and contemporary exteriors alike. Fitted as a pair either side of a doorway, it gives an entrance a neat, symmetrical finish after dark.
