Elstead Cleveland Single Small Up Wall Lantern - Weathered Bronze

A wall lantern that throws its light upward

Most wall lanterns point their light down toward the ground, but the Cleveland Single Small Up Wall Lantern is built the other way round, carrying its glazed head up and outward on a scrolled bracket. The result is a softer wash of light up a wall or across a porch ceiling rather than one bright pool underfoot.

Weathered Bronze and seeded glass

Cast in aluminium and finished in Weathered Bronze, it has a dark, almost black base coat with warm bronze coming through on the raised trim and finial, so it already looks a little worn in even before it has seen any weather. Clear seeded glass fills the lantern panels, its small bubbles and ripples breaking up the light rather than letting it shine flat and even.

How it works

The lantern head sits on an ornamental scroll arm fixed flat against the wall, so it goes up in place of an existing porch or exterior light with a single bulb inside. It will run happily on dimmable bulbs too, if you would rather set the mood than just flick a switch.

Where it works best

Good either side of a front door, on a porch wall, or beside a garage, and it makes a pleasing pair either side of an entrance. The scrollwork and lantern shape sit most at home on period or cottage style houses, but the dark bronze colour is muted enough not to look out of place on more modern brick or render.
