Elstead Cleveland Single Medium Up Wall Lantern - Weathered Bronze

A lantern that reaches upward rather than down

Most wall lanterns hang below their mounting point. The Cleveland Single Medium Up Wall Lantern does the opposite, its arm scrolling upward from the wall plate so the lantern body sits above it, tapering to a decorative finial at the top. It gives a wall more height and presence than a downward facing fitting, closer in spirit to a torch bracket than a standard porch light.

Weathered bronze

The body is cast aluminium finished in weathered bronze, a dark base tone with warm copper tints breaking through at the edges and raised detailing. The curved glass panels are clear seeded glass, flecked with tiny trapped bubbles that soften the light rather than letting it show as a single bright bulb shape behind plain clear glass.

How It Works

A single E27 LED lamp sits inside the lantern, throwing light out through the seeded glass and up past the finial, so the fitting reads as a feature in its own right after dark rather than purely a light source. It suits use as an accent light alongside other fittings rather than as the sole illumination for a large area, and it will dim if fitted with a dimmable bulb.

Where It Works Best

Because the eye is drawn upward, this lantern works well on taller wall spaces, either side of a front door, either side of gateposts, or mounted on pillars where a downward facing lantern would look squat by comparison. Weathered bronze suits stone, brick and render equally well, and an IP44 rating means it's built to take direct exposure to the weather.

Does the Cleveland Up Wall Lantern come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 LED lamp which isn't included, so you can choose the wattage and colour temperature that suits the space.

Is this lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's IP44 rated and finished in weathered bronze specifically for exterior walls, porches and gateposts.

Can the Cleveland Up Wall Lantern be dimmed? Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable E27 bulb. A standard non dimmable bulb will only run at full brightness.
