Small enough for a single frame, still fully adjustable
Not every picture needs a full length light bar above it. The small Chawton is scaled down to 18.2cm wide, a neat fit over a single small to medium frame, a mirror, or a narrow alcove where a longer fitting would overhang the edges.
Aged brass finish
Underneath, the Chawton is mild steel, but the aged brass plating is what you actually see and touch. It has a warm, slightly muted gold tone with visible brushing across the metal, giving it a lived in character rather than a showroom shine. It reads as an older piece of hardware that happens to be new, which suits period frames and traditional rooms particularly well.
How it works
Twin arms reach from the wall plate to the shade, each with its own knuckle joint so the angle can be set independently at both ends. Loosen the wing tab at each joint, tilt the shade and arm to where you want them, then tighten again and the light holds its position, directing light down onto the picture rather than out into the room.
Where it works best
Ideal above a single painting on a landing, either side of a fireplace where two smaller lights flank a chimney breast, or over a compact mirror in a hallway. Because it's the shortest option in the range, it also suits narrower wall spaces where the medium or large versions wouldn't sit comfortably, and it works equally well in a living room, dining room or home office.
Built by Elstead Lighting
Elstead Lighting has been based in Alton, Hampshire since 1971, with roots tracing back to the Elstead Forge and a business still led today by the Lucas family. Picture lights like the Chawton sit alongside its wider range of period inspired wall lights, lanterns and chandeliers.

Questions People Ask
Does the small Chawton come with a bulb? No. It takes one E14 bulb, sold separately, so you can pick the LED colour temperature that suits the room.
Can I angle the shade once it's fitted? Yes. Each arm has its own knuckle joint with a wing tab, so you can loosen it, tilt the shade and arm independently, then tighten to hold the angle over your frame.
Is the small Chawton dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E14 bulb. A non-dimmable bulb won't dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.
How far does the small Chawton project from the wall? Around 18.6cm from the wall plate to the front of the shade, with an overall width of 18.2cm, so it suits a single small to medium frame rather than a wide piece.
