The Chawton medium picture light throws a warm, even band of light straight down a wall, over one substantial painting or a run of smaller frames, without spilling glare back into the room. At 40.2cm across, it's built for a proper sized canvas or a tight grid of prints rather than a single small photograph.
Matte black finish
This version is finished in a flat matte black over mild steel, with a stepped, moulded backplate that nods to traditional coach lighting rather than a plain rectangle. The shade itself has a faceted, angular profile rather than a simple curve, so it holds its shape and catches light along its edges even when switched off.
How It Works
Two arms run from the backplate to the shade, and each one has its own pair of knuckle joints, so the shade can be tilted and turned independently of where the arm sits. Loosen the joints, aim the beam at the section of picture or frame you want lit, then tighten to hold it there. It takes two E14 LED lamp holders and bulbs are not supplied.
Where It Works Best
A hallway, stairwell or living room wall with a favourite piece on it is the obvious home, but it works just as well over a large mirror, a framed map in a study, or a run of bookshelves that could use a lift. Because the light is thrown down and outward rather than straight into the room, it stays comfortable in a dining room or snug too.

Does the Chawton medium picture light come with bulbs? No. It takes two E14 bulbs and none are supplied, so choose dimmable E14 bulbs if you want to use it with a dimmer switch.
Can both arms be angled separately? Yes. Each arm has its own pair of knuckle joints, so you can tilt and turn the shade to aim the light exactly where you want it on the picture, then tighten the joints to hold the position.
How far does the light project from the wall? The fitting projects around 18.6cm from the wall at the backplate, with the shade itself measuring 40.2cm wide and 11.9cm high.
Is this picture light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. Standard, non dimmable bulbs will not dim even on a dimmer circuit.
