The Chartwell 2 Light Wall Light takes the shape of a traditional candle sconce and finishes it in solid black. Two curved arms sweep out from a central fluted rosette, each ending in a forged style hook and an ivory candle sleeve that holds the bulb upright, so the fitting reads as an open flame rather than a shaded lamp.

Black finish

Every part of the fitting, from the rosette backplate to the scrolled arms, is finished in a flat black that lets the silhouette do the work rather than any shine or texture. Where the two arms meet the frame, the joints are wrapped in fine wound wire rather than smoothed away, a detail usually hidden on cast fittings but left visible here as part of the design.

How It Works

Two E14 lamp holders sit upright in the ivory candle sleeves, holding the bulbs clear rather than behind a shade, so the light itself is on show. The lamp holders suit E14 LED bulbs, which are not included, and the fitting will dim if you fit dimmable bulbs. It is Class I rated and must be earthed, so we recommend a qualified electrician carries out the installation.

Where It Works Best

The candle style arms suit a hallway, landing or dining room where you want a period silhouette rather than a modern shade, and a pair either side of a fireplace or mirror reads as a considered scheme rather than a single fitting. It also works well in a bedroom or living room as a softer alternative to an overhead pendant.
