A lantern that holds its ground by the door
Chapel is the shape most people picture when they hear the word lantern: a tapered, six sided glass head under a pitched cap, topped with a small pointed finial and lifted clear of the wall on a curved arm. There is no scrollwork or added decoration here, just clean lines carried through in solid black, so it sits as comfortably beside a period front door as it does on a plain new build porch.
Black die cast aluminium
The body is die cast aluminium finished in black with a slightly textured, matt surface rather than a gloss sheen, and the same finish carries through the cap, the finial and the wall bracket underneath. Every side of the hexagonal head is glazed in clear glass rather than frosted, so the fitting throws light outward on all sides instead of holding it behind a single pane.
How it works
A single E27 bulb sits upright inside the lantern head, and the fitting will dim if you fit a dimmable bulb of that type; the bulb itself is not included. The wall bracket fixes flat against the brickwork and holds the lantern head up and clear of the surface on its curved arm, angling it outward rather than sitting tight to the wall.
Where it works best
It earns its keep either side of a front door, on a porch, flanking a garage opening, or mounted along a garden wall or gatepost, anywhere a proper period style fitting reads better than a plain bulkhead light. With an IP44 rating it is built to handle an exposed, uncovered wall as well as a sheltered porch.

Is the Chapel wall lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP44, so it can be mounted on an exposed exterior wall as well as a covered porch.
What bulb does it take? A single E27 bulb, which is not included. Fit an LED E27 bulb rated for outdoor use.
Can I use a dimmer switch with this lantern? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer even on a compatible circuit.
Does it need to be installed by an electrician? This fitting is Class I and must be earthed, so we recommend a qualified electrician carries out the installation.
