Elstead Chapel Single Flush Lantern - Black

A porch lantern that sits flush and quiet

Where the rest of the Chapel range hangs from a wall bracket or stands on a post, the Flush Lantern sits square against the ceiling itself, so there's nothing to catch a low doorway or bump against as you pass underneath. Four ribbed polycarbonate panels fan out from a small square jewel at the centre, giving the fitting a sense of movement even before it's switched on.

The frame is a die cast aluminium casting finished in black, holding four textured polycarbonate panels rather than plain glass. Lit from within, the ribbing throws light out in soft vertical stripes rather than one flat glow, and the panels' frosted texture also hides the bulb itself from view.

How it works

A single E27 bulb runs the whole fitting, best fitted with an LED lamp for outdoor use. Choose a dimmable bulb and it will work on a compatible dimmer circuit, while a standard bulb will simply switch on and off as normal. The bulb isn't included, so you'll need to fit your own before switching on.

Where it works best

Ceiling mounted and rated for outdoor use, it earns its keep over porches, under canopies and along covered walkways, anywhere a wall lantern would stick out too far or get in the way but you still want the black ironwork look overhead.

Is the Chapel Flush Lantern suitable for outside a front door or porch? Yes. It's IP44 rated and designed for ceiling mounting outdoors, so it copes well over porches, under canopies and along covered walkways.

Does the Flush Lantern come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't supplied, so you'll need to fit an E27 LED lamp of your choice before use.

Is this light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb on a compatible dimmer circuit. A non dimmable bulb won't dim even if the switch itself is a dimmer.
