A ground level lantern for path and gate

Set on its own plinth rather than a wall bracket or hanging chain, the Chapel Mini Pedestal Lantern stands at ground level with the same squared, glass sided lantern head as the rest of the Chapel Mini range on top. It works well as a standalone marker rather than a light fixed to a building, wherever a low level glow is more useful than something mounted higher up.

Black die cast aluminium and glass

The lantern head, roof and pedestal base are all cast in a matte black finish, with a lightly textured surface that reads as solid rather than shiny. Four clear glass panes sit inside the head, held in place at each corner, and the roof rises to a small pointed finial at the top.

How It Works

A single E27 lamp holder sits inside the lantern head, positioned so the light spreads outward and down rather than shining upward from a bracket. There is no chain or wall plate involved, just a solid cast base for fixing to a flat surface or gate pier, and it will dim if fitted with a dimmable bulb.

Where It Works Best

At 44cm tall, it suits marking a path edge, gate post or the corner of a driveway, somewhere ground level light is more useful than a fitting mounted up a wall. It sits alongside the wall and pillar lanterns in the Chapel Mini collection, so several can be used together along a run of path or either side of a pair of gate posts for a consistent look.

Does it need to be fixed to a wall or post? No. It stands on its own cast base, so it's fixed to a flat surface, gate pier or plinth rather than mounted on a wall or hung on a chain.

Does it come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 lamp, which is not included, so you can choose the light output that suits the space.

Is it suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP44, which covers exposure to rain and splashing water, making it suitable for a path, driveway or gate post.
