The Chapel Mini takes the squared, gently pitched profile of Elstead's full size chain lantern and scales it down for porches, side doors and covered entrances where the larger fitting would crowd the space. Cast in matte black aluminium with clear glass panels on all four sides, it hangs from its own black chain rather than sitting flush to a wall or ceiling.

Finish

The black finish is applied over cast aluminium, so every edge, from the pitched roof cap down to the pointed finial at the base, has the slightly textured, matte surface typical of an outdoor cast fitting rather than a smooth painted sheen. The four glass panels are left clear, so the lamp inside stays visible from the street rather than being diffused behind frosted glass.

How It Works

A single E27 lamp fits into the holder at the centre of the housing. The bulb isn't supplied, so you can choose the wattage and colour temperature that suit the doorway. The chain above the lantern is adjustable between 49.5cm and 96.5cm, letting you set the drop to suit a low porch or a taller entrance recess, and the whole fitting will work on a dimmer switch provided the bulb itself is a dimmable one.

At 34.5cm high and 17cm across, the Chapel Mini suits a smaller porch, side entrance or covered doorway, spots where the full size Chapel lantern would overwhelm the space but a plain wall light wouldn't give quite the same character.
