A Bit of Old Ironwork, Brought Indoors
The Belfry has the look of something forged rather than cast, the kind of fitting that suits a house with beams or stone rather than plain plaster. Two arms sweep up and out from a central backplate, each ending in a candle style bulb holder with a twisted barley finial hanging below.
Black Mild Steel, Finished Without Polish
Made from mild steel and finished in black, the Belfry doesn't try to look refined. The arms curve simply, the drops beneath them are twisted like rope, and the backplate carries a repeated flower motif, cast into both the top fixing point and the centre plate, that ties the whole fitting together.
How It Works
It takes two E14 candle bulbs, not included, one at the end of each arm, giving a softer, warmer spread of light rather than a bright wash across the room. Fit a dimmable pair and the light responds to a standard dimmer switch, so the room can move from a low flicker to something brighter.
Where It Works Best
A hallway, dining room or living room with some beams, stone or panelling nearby suits the Belfry well, though it sits just as comfortably in a bedroom as a softer accent light. Two fitted either side of a fireplace or a run of them along a hallway both read well, since the twin arm shape holds its own without needing a matching pendant overhead.
Elstead's Traditional Side
Elstead Lighting is a British lighting group with roots going back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and the business is still led by the Lucas family today. Are bulbs included with the Belfry 2 Light Wall Light? No. It takes two E14 candle bulbs, which aren't supplied. An LED candle bulb is recommended for a longer life and lower running cost.
Can this wall light be used on a dimmer switch? Yes, as long as dimmable E14 bulbs are fitted. Standard non dimmable bulbs won't dim correctly even on a dimmer circuit.
