The Bayview Large Wall Lantern takes the traditional coach lantern shape and strips back the ornament, pairing a single scrolled wall bracket with a square cut lantern head glazed on all four sides in clear bevelled glass. It is a straightforward, traditional silhouette rather than a heavily worked one, built to sit either side of a front door or porch without competing with the architecture around it.

Cast in black

Bayview is cast in aluminium and finished in black, with a slight sheen across the casting that catches the light without looking glossy. The frame is kept deliberately plain so the clear bevelled glass panels, and the bulb they expose, do the visual work rather than any decorative scrollwork on the lantern head itself. The one detail with any flourish is the wall bracket, a single scrolled arm carrying the lantern away from the wall plate.

How It Works

A single E27 bulb sits inside the lantern head, fully visible through the surrounding glass, so the fitting works as its own light source rather than hiding the lamp behind a diffuser. It is wired directly into the wall's mains supply rather than plugged in, so we always recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation. Fit a dimmable bulb and it will respond to a dimmer switch; the bulb itself is not included.

Where It Works Best

Its scale and plain detailing suit a front door, a covered porch or a pair either side of a garage, particularly on period or Georgian style properties where a simpler bracket lantern reads better than a heavily scrolled one. As an IP44 rated exterior fitting it is built to handle life outdoors, though like any wall lantern it is best mounted somewhere with some shelter from direct, driving rain.
