The Baltimore lantern, lower to the ground
This pedestal light carries the same glazed lantern head as the rest of the Baltimore range, a leaf finial, acanthus scrollwork and tapered glass sides, but sets it on a short fluted pedestal foot rather than a tall post or a wall bracket. It reads as a scaled down lamp post, built for a gate pier or the top of a low wall rather than a full driveway run.
Weathered bronze finish
The weathered bronze finish gives the cast metalwork a near black base, with warm bronze and copper worn into the raised scrollwork, the finial and the fluting on the foot. That contrast is most visible once the lamp is switched on, when the highlights catch the glow from inside. Amber tinted, gently rippled glass sits behind the frame on all four sides, softening the light rather than throwing it in a hard beam.
How it works
A single E27 lamp holder sits inside the lantern head, and the pedestal base plate bolts down to paving, a pier cap or a low wall for a hardwired supply. Being a permanent outdoor fixture rather than a plug in light, it should be wired up and fitted by a qualified electrician.
Where it works best
At 68cm tall and 30cm across the base, it sits between two extremes, too substantial for a small bollard light and too short for a full height lamp post. That makes it well suited to gate piers, the top of a low garden wall, or either side of a driveway entrance where you want a matching pair rather than a single tall feature.
About Elstead Lighting
Elstead is a British decorative lighting group and distributor, with roots tracing back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire. The business remains led by the Lucas family, and the Baltimore range continues that traditional lantern styling, cast detail, glazed panels and finial toppers, reworked across wall, post and pedestal formats.

Questions People Ask
Is the Baltimore pedestal lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It's rated IP44, which covers exposure to rain and splashing, making it suitable for gate piers, low walls and other exposed outdoor spots.
Does it come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the colour temperature and brightness that suits the space.
Can the Baltimore pedestal lantern be dimmed? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch even if the circuit supports one.
How is it fixed in place? It bolts down through its square base plate to a flat surface such as paving, a pier cap or a low wall, and is wired into a permanent outdoor supply rather than plugged in, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
