Elstead Balance Single Wall Light - White & Polished Nickel

A wall light that leans into the room

Balance doesn't sit flat against the wall like most bracket lights. An angled arm carries the shade forward and down, so the fitting has real shadow and shape even before it's switched on. It reads as more of a sculptural piece than a plain wall bracket.

White and polished nickel

The circular backplate and arm are finished in a soft white, with polished nickel showing at the elbow of the arm and again in the collar just below it. The drum shade is white fabric, lined in silver rather than gold, so the light it throws once switched on reads cool and bright rather than warm and amber.

How it works

A single E27 LED bulb sits inside the shade (not supplied), and the fitting will dim if you fit a dimmable bulb on a compatible dimmer switch. It's wired to Class I standard, so it needs an earth connection, and like any hardwired fitting we'd always recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.

Where it works best

Fitted as a pair either side of a bed, Balance frees up the nightstands for books and lamps of their own. The same pairing works either side of a hallway mirror or a dressing table, and a run of them spaced along a dining room wall adds light without more pendants overhead. A single fitting also works well brightening a landing or a reading corner in the living room.

Does the Balance wall light come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the LED you prefer.

Is the Balance wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb won't dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.

How far does the Balance wall light project from the wall? The angled arm carries the shade 26cm out from the backplate, so it needs a little more clearance than a flat bracket light.

Is Balance available as anything other than a wall light? Yes. The same white and polished nickel finish is available on a matching Balance pendant and table lamp, so you can carry the look across a room.
