The Artisan 3 Light Chandelier centres on an open, elongated cage of vertical steel strips, tapering up to a fluted ceiling rose and down to a spiralled knot finial. Three curling arms reach out from its base, each ending in a plain candle style holder, so the fitting reads as much like a piece of ironwork sculpture as a light source, even before the bulbs are switched on.

Finished in matte black

Every part of the frame, from the cage centre to the curling arms and the twisted knot drop, is finished in a flat matte black rather than a polished or plated tone. It gives the scrollwork a solid, graphic character quite different from Artisan's aged brass equivalent, without losing any of the curling detail that makes the design recognisable.

How it works

Three E14 candle style lamp holders sit openly on the curling arms, so the ironwork itself stays on show rather than hidden behind a shade. LED candle bulbs are recommended but not supplied. The chain allows the drop to be adjusted from 50cm up to 94cm at installation, and the fitting can also be converted to hang close to the ceiling as a semi flush light if the room is on the lower side.

Where it works best

Its dark ironwork suits a room where the ceiling itself is part of the design, a dining room with exposed beams, a hallway with real height, or a bedroom where the fitting is left to do the decorating rather than compete with other light sources. It also works well above a landing or stairwell, somewhere the open cage centre and scrollwork can be seen properly from below.

Does the Artisan 3 Light Chandelier come with bulbs? No. It takes three E14 candle style bulbs, and we recommend LEDs, but they are not included.

Can I adjust how low it hangs? Yes. The chain allows the drop to be set anywhere from 50cm up to 94cm, and the fitting can also be converted to hang close to the ceiling as a semi flush light.

Is the Artisan chandelier in black dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. A standard non dimmable bulb will not dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.

Is this the same design as the aged brass Artisan chandelier? Yes, it shares the same cage centre, curling arms and knot twist drop as the aged brass version, just finished in matte black rather than a metallic tone.
