Gloss white finishes have a specific job in a room: they let the object being lit do the work, rather than adding another fixture for the eye to land on. The Alton in white leans into that, sitting close to the surface of a painted wall and drawing attention to the artwork beneath it rather than to itself.

Instead of a metallic tone, this Alton is finished in a bright, glossy white that reads as part of the wall rather than a fixture on it. The round wall plate, curved arm and slim light bar all share the same smooth gloss, so the whole piece stays visually quiet against white or pale painted walls.

How It Works

A single integrated 6W LED runs the length of the bar, producing 318 lumens of warm 3000K light aimed down onto whatever is mounted below it. It's fixed brightness rather than dimmable, and because the LED is built into the bar itself there's no separate bulb to change. The bar tilts slightly at the knuckle joint where it meets the arm, so it can be angled once fitted to aim the light more precisely at the artwork below.

Where It Works Best

It suits any room built around artwork: a single canvas in a dining room, a run of smaller frames in a hallway, or a favourite print above a desk in a study or living room. Because the white finish sits so close to the colour of a typical wall, it works especially well where the surrounding paintwork is white or another pale neutral.

Questions People Ask

Is the Alton picture light dimmable? No. The integrated LED runs at a single fixed brightness, so it can't be used with a dimmer switch.

Can the LED be replaced if it stops working? No. The LED is built into the light bar itself rather than fitted as a separate bulb, so it isn't user replaceable.

How far does the Alton project from the wall? The bar sits about 16.9cm out from the wall plate, with the whole fitting dropping about 21.1cm from the top of the plate to the base of the bar.

Will the white finish suit a coloured wall? It's designed to blend into white or pale walls. On a darker or bolder colour the fitting itself will be more visible, so one of Alton's metal finishes may suit better if you'd rather it not stand out.
