A picture light has one job: put light on the art rather than into the room. The Alton is built around that idea, a slim LED bar mounted on a curved arm that angles down over a frame, whether that's a single canvas or a run of smaller prints along a hallway.

Brushed nickel finish

This version comes in brushed nickel, a cool, matte, silvery finish that reads closer to pewter than to a bright chrome shine. It suits rooms with black, steel or nickel toned hardware already in place, and won't compete with a gilt or ornate frame the way a warmer brass finish might.

How It Works

A single 6W LED is built into the bar itself, producing 318 lumens of warm white 3000K light angled down across whatever hangs beneath it. It's a fixed brightness fitting, not dimmable, and switches on and off via the small integrated switch on the end of the bar or an in line switch on the cable, depending on how it's wired in.

Where It Works Best

Living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and studies are the natural homes for a fitting like this, mounted centrally above a single large piece or spaced along a run of smaller frames. Because the light throws down and across rather than out into the room, it works well as a secondary accent alongside a pendant or wall lights rather than as the main source of light.

Questions People Ask

Can the brightness be adjusted? No. The Alton picture light has a fixed brightness LED bar and isn't compatible with a dimmer switch.

Can the LED be replaced if it fails? The LED is integrated into the bar rather than a separate bulb, so it isn't user replaceable. It's covered by a 2 year warranty.

How is the light switched on and off? There's a small integrated switch on the end of the bar, or it can be wired via an in line switch on the cable, depending on how your electrician connects it.

What other finishes is the Alton available in? This brushed nickel version sits alongside brushed brass, polished chrome and white, so a run of picture lights can be matched to the rest of a room's hardware.
