The compact version, for the pieces that do not need a full length bar
Not every frame needs a 67cm light bar over it. This is the shorter Alton, scaled down for smaller artwork and photography, but built the same way: a slim black tube on a curved arm, kept low profile enough that it reads as a detail rather than a statement.
Matte black, sized to suit
The finish is flat black across the backplate, arm and light bar, so it holds its line against most wall colours without competing with the piece it is lighting. At this shorter length it suits smaller frames without leaving light spilling out past the edges.
How it works
An integrated LED strip runs along the underside of the bar, giving an even, warm white wash over whatever hangs below rather than a single bright point. The arm hinges out from the wall and the head tilts on its own, so the beam can be angled onto the piece rather than the wall around it.
Where it works best
Small to medium framed prints, photographs and certificates are the obvious fit, along with any narrower spot where the full length version would be overkill, a stairwell landing or a small gallery wall grouping among them.
The smaller sibling in the Alton range
Alton is offered in two sizes, and this is the shorter one, still available across the same set of finishes as its larger counterpart. It is made by Elstead, a British lighting company working out of Alton, Hampshire since 1971 and still under the same family that started it.
