A cascade of light and movement
The Chimera wall sconce is built for drama. Three wavy, ribbon like arms stack upward in ascending sweeps, each one wider than the one below, and from every arm hangs a dense fringe of tapering elements: fine chains threaded with tiny beads alongside slender, ribbed glass rods that catch the light as they cascade down to a single point. It feels like movement caught mid swing, fullest and tallest through the centre and tapering out towards the edges, with the two lamps glowing softly from within the cluster.
Tranquility Silver Leaf finish
The hand shaped frame is finished in Tranquility Silver Leaf, a soft, pale, warm toned silver with a lightly brushed, hand applied texture rather than a flat, uniform sheen. It reads closer to champagne than stark white, so it sits comfortably against warm neutrals as well as cooler greys, and pairs naturally with the nickel finial caps and clear glass used throughout the rest of the fixture.
How it works
Chimera takes two E14 candelabra bulbs, each rated up to 60W, tucked behind the cascading glass and chain so the light glows through the clear ribbed glass rods rather than glaring outward. The sconce measures approximately 45cm (17.7") in height and 32cm (12.6") in width, projecting around 15cm (5.9") from the wall, with a rectangular backplate roughly 26cm (10.2") in length.
Where it works best
Given its height and cascading profile, Chimera suits spots with a bit of vertical room to let the tiers fall properly: either side of a mirror or fireplace, flanking a console table, or spaced along a hallway or staircase wall. Because the light filters through glass and chain rather than throwing wide, it works best as an accent or mood layer alongside other lighting rather than as the sole source in a room.
About Corbett
Corbett Lighting has spent more than 40 years crafting fixtures that lean sculptural and jewellery like, the kind of pieces Corbett itself describes as sophisticated chic. The brand sits within Hudson Valley Lighting Group, a family business alongside Mitzi and Troy Lighting that traces back to Brooklyn inventor William Littman, whose fascination with the fluorescent lighting on display at the 1939 New York World's Fair set the family on its lighting path. Decades later his grandson David Littman built on that foundation to establish Hudson Valley Lighting Group in the 1980s, and Chimera carries the same appetite for bold, statement making design.
