A Bezel With the Sensor Built Right In

This is the white replacement bezel for Collingwood's H2 Sense downlight, and what sets it apart is where the PIR sensor lives. Instead of fitting a separate sensor puck next to the downlight, Collingwood has built the motion detector straight into the faceplate. The result is a single round fitting in the ceiling rather than a light and a sensor sitting side by side, which makes for a noticeably tidier finish on any ceiling run.

Finish and Fit

The bezel is finished in a clean matte white to match the standard H2 Sense downlight housing, so it disappears into a white ceiling rather than drawing attention to itself. It's a moulded plastic faceplate with a recessed lens surround, a small rotary dimmer style adjuster, and the raised PIR sensor dome sitting just off centre. Sprung retaining clips fold flat for insertion into the ceiling cutout and spring open to grip the plasterboard once pushed home, the same fixing method used across the H2 Sense range.

How It Works

Fit this bezel to a compatible H2 Sense downlight body and the built in PIR sensor takes over switching duties for that fitting and up to 200W of additional lighting on the same circuit, equivalent to around 30 further 6W H2 Sense downlights. It isn't limited to lighting either. Provided the combined connected load stays under that 200W ceiling, it can also switch a non lighting load such as an extractor fan. On the back of the bezel are three small rotary dials marked LUX, SENS and TIME, which let an installer fine tune how bright the room needs to get before the sensor stops firing, how far away it should pick up movement, and how long the light stays on after the last movement is detected. Gold contact pins on the rear connect the sensor straight into the downlight's own driver, so no extra low voltage wiring is needed beyond the standard connection. This listing is for the bezel and integrated sensor only. It does not include the H2 Sense downlight body or lamp, so it's intended either as a spare part for an existing installation or to add PIR control to a downlight body bought separately.

Where It Works Best

Because it mounts into an existing H2 Sense downlight aperture, this bezel is really a retrofit or upgrade part rather than something specified from scratch. It suits hallways, stairwells, cloakrooms, utility rooms, storerooms and back of house spaces where lights are needed briefly and automatically rather than left running, and where wiring a separate wall mounted PIR isn't practical or worth the extra cable run.
