A Slimline Architectural Linear Light Built for Serious Spaces
The Versa Tile is an architectural linear light that keeps its profile deliberately slim, just 38mm deep, so it sits into a ceiling run without drawing attention to itself. It carries a UGR19 glare rating, which controls the harsh reflections that tire people out under ordinary office lighting. At 45W it produces 5000 lumens, working out at around 111 lumens for every watt it draws, so the output is generous without the fitting itself feeling heavy handed.
Finished in Silver
This listing is the silver finish of the Versa Tile, an aluminium housing with a cool, understated tone that sits neatly against most ceiling finishes rather than competing with the space around it. The diffuser is polystyrene, chosen to spread the LED output evenly along the full 1558mm length so the strip reads as one continuous line of light rather than a row of visible LED points.
How It Works
Light splits automatically between the room and the ceiling itself, with around 75% cast downward onto the working plane and 25% thrown upward, so the space is lit evenly instead of leaving a bright strip below and a dark ceiling above. Even when the fitting is surface mounted rather than suspended, more than a tenth of the output still bounces upward. The driver sits integral to the housing, and the colour temperature is fixed at 4000K with a CRI of 80, a fair middle ground between the warmth of a home fitting and the starkness of a cold white commercial one.
Versa Tile is built as eight configurations, based on two choices made at the point of order. The first is the driver, either standard non dimming or dimmable via DALI-2 or push dim control gear. The second is the model, a plain standard fitting, an emergency version with self test capability and IK02 impact resistance, a version with a built in PIR sensor, or an emergency model combined with PIR. A single 1500mm length can be suspended on its own, or several lengths can be joined into a continuous run using the separate VTBCON connector, sold apart from the light itself.
Where It Works Best
Versa Tile is built for commercial interiors rather than domestic rooms, think open plan offices, meeting rooms, corridors and reception areas where a long, even wash of light matters more than a decorative statement. The low glare rating makes it a sensible choice above desks and screens, where a harsher fitting would throw reflections across a monitor. Specified with the PIR option in a space that is not constantly occupied, such as a corridor or a store room, it can also help cut down on lights left running when nobody is there.

Good to Know
- Covered by a 5 year warranty from Collingwood Lighting.
- Rated IP20, meaning it is designed for dry indoor spaces only and is not suitable for bathrooms or anywhere it could be splashed.
- Electrical Class I, so the fitting must be properly earthed as part of installation.
- Dimming only works if you order the DALI-2 or push dim driver variant, the standard non dimming version cannot be converted to dim later.
- Continuous runs need the separate VTBCON connector, which is not included with a single unit.
- Wipe the aluminium housing and diffuser with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners on the polystyrene diffuser.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
- Can the Versa Tile be dimmed? Yes, but only on the variant ordered with a dimming driver, which supports DALI-2 or push dim control, the standard non dimming version has no dimming function built in.
- Does it have an emergency backup function? The emergency variants of the Versa Tile switch to a self tested emergency mode producing 240 lumens if mains power fails, and they carry an IK02 impact rating.
- Can several Versa Tile units be joined into one continuous run? Yes, individual 1500mm lengths can be linked together with the separate VTBCON connector to form a continuous line of light.
- Is the Versa Tile suitable for a bathroom? No, it carries an IP20 rating, which is intended for dry indoor spaces only and offers no protection against moisture.
- What colour temperature does the Versa Tile give off? It runs at a fixed 4000K, a neutral white that stays the same across the standard, emergency and PIR sensor versions.
