Brass Cups Top off the Glass: Warm, Finished, 200cm Long
This Cedar pendant with bell cup adds a decorative brass cup above each of its ten cognac sculpted glass shades, creating a more dressed up version of the standard pendant. The bell cups sit proud of the shades, giving the fitting visual layers rather than reading as a simple linear bar. The combination of warm brass and amber tinted glass creates a rich, golden glow that feels generous rather than austere.
Choosing Your Finish
Brass brings genuine warmth to the frame and complements the amber tone of the cognac glass beautifully. The warm finish works particularly well in kitchens and dining rooms with existing wood tones, natural materials, or warmer colour palettes where a cooler metal might feel out of place. The bell cup detail adds a touch of craft and deliberate design that lifts the fitting beyond purely minimalist aesthetics. Other finishes with bell cups are available across the Cedar range.
How It Works
Ten E14 lamp holders nestle inside each shade, with the brass bell cup sitting above to provide definition and depth to the overall design. The fitting is Class I electrical, requiring a proper earth connection during installation. Dimmable lamps paired with a compatible dimmer switch give you full control over the mood, from task light brightness down to a warm evening glow. The IP20 rating means it's designed for dry interior spaces only.
Where It Works Best
Above a kitchen island, dining table, or open plan kitchen diner, this pendant gives excellent light distribution across long surfaces. The brass and cognac combination reads as warmer and more inviting than cooler finishes, making it a natural choice for spaces where comfort and hospitality feel important as well as function. It works equally well in traditional, transitional, or eclectic kitchen schemes where warmth is a design priority.
Design Details
The bell cup addition to the Cedar design introduces a secondary visual element that catches light and adds dimension to what could otherwise be a simple glass and bar assembly. Brass is worked and finished to a soft sheen rather than a high polish, giving it a more organic, less reflective quality that pairs naturally with the sculpted glass detailing. This approach creates a fitting that feels considered and craft oriented without being overly ornate.

Questions People Ask
What's the difference between the bell cup and standard versions?
The bell cup version has a small brass (or black) cup above each shade, adding visual interest and layering to the design. It's slightly lighter in weight but the same length. Choose bell cup if you like more decorated finishes, or standard if you prefer a cleaner linear look.
Does brass tarnish?
Brass can develop a natural patina over time if left untreated, but it won't rust or become damaged. If you prefer to keep it bright, a soft cloth will restore the lustre. This is purely aesthetic and doesn't affect the function of the fitting.
Why is the bell cup version lighter than the standard Cedar?
The bell cup design uses a slightly different structural approach that achieves the same strength and stability while using less metal overall. That's why it weighs 48kg instead of 52.3kg, despite being the same length.
