The Forked Globe Smoked Shade Pendant puts a solid metal shade over a handblown smoked glass globe and hangs the whole thing on an adjustable cable, so you get the shape of the shade with the smoked glass still showing underneath.

Brass, Steel, Gun Metal and Burnt Steel are all available. Burnt Steel is hand heat treated rather than plated, so it shifts between blue, purple and bronze tones piece to piece, while the smoked glass beneath stays constant across every finish.

How It Works

This combination uses a dimmable Punch Bulb rather than a visible filament bulb, hidden mostly by the metal shade above with the smoked glass just catching what light escapes below. It needs an LED compatible dimmer switch to dim, takes an E27 base up to 7W, and is wired for 220 to 240V at IP20. The cable adjusts up to 3000mm and can be shortened by a trained electrician.

Where It Works Best

At 250mm across and 150mm deep, this Medium size suits a single drop over a small table or a cluster of two or three spaced along a kitchen island. If you'd rather see the smoked glass with nothing covering it, the plain Globe Pendant leaves it fully exposed, and if you'd rather hide the light completely, the solid Shade Pendant drops the glass altogether.

Before Buster + Punch, Massimo Buster Minale was an architect working on large scale projects with firms including Richard Rogers, and it was a Shoreditch garage, spent customising motorbikes, that eventually pulled him away from architecture altogether.
