This 3G dimmer switch is brass from the plate through to all three knurled knobs, so a wall position running three separate circuits reads as one solid brass fitting rather than a row of switches.

This listing is brass throughout, across all three dimmer positions. There is no alternate knob colour on this particular plate. The Black, Smoked Bronze, Steel and White 3G versions in this range each offer a brass detail option, if you would rather have the accent without the full brass plate.

How It Works

Three rotary dimmer modules sit behind the plate, each wired independently to a standard 230 to 240V, 50Hz supply. Each one dims LED bulbs from 5W up to 120W, or incandescent and halogen bulbs from 60W up to 400W, and controls its own circuit without affecting the other two. As with all hardwired Buster + Punch electrics, installation should always be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

Brass suits warmer, more traditional rooms, particularly alongside timber furniture or existing brass door and cabinet hardware. The 3G format brings three circuits together at one wall position, for example a dining room with pendant, wall and picture lighting all on separate dimmers, avoiding a row of three individual plates.

Nothing about a fully brass plate like this one is moulded to look the part, solid metal is worked and assembled, which is exactly how founder Massimo Buster Minale set up the company in 2013 after years spent hand building motorbikes rather than buying parts for them. He'd trained as an architect at firms including Foster + Partners before that garage in Shoreditch became a workshop, and then a brand.

Yes, solid brass is denser than the stainless steel used on the other back plates, so this version weighs more in the hand than the black, white, steel or smoked bronze 3G plates.

What bulbs can I dim with this switch?
