Sometimes a room only has one circuit worth dimming, and this single gang switch is built for exactly that: a solid steel plate, one knurled knob, nothing extra. It's a small object, but it's machined from real metal rather than pressed from thin sheet, so it has a weight and a texture that plastic switches never manage.

Choose Your Finish

The plate is steel either way here. Pick pure Steel for a single cool metal tone across the whole switch, or Steel with a Brass detail kit if you want the knob and coin screws to stand out warmer against the steel plate.

How It Works

A single rotary dimmer module sits behind the plate, push on/off and turn to dim, wired two way. It runs on standard UK 230 to 240V wiring at 50Hz and dims LED bulbs from 5 to 120W, or incandescent and halogen from 60 to 400W, with electronic soft start easing the circuit up from off rather than snapping it to full brightness.

Where It Works Best

A 1G plate is right wherever one circuit does the job alone, a single pendant, a run of hallway downlights, a bedside lamp circuit. As soon as a second circuit needs independent control from the same spot on the wall, a lamp and an overhead light in the same room, say, that's the point to move up to the 2G plate rather than fitting two 1G switches side by side.

This switch is part of what the brand calls its Custom range, built from separate plate, module and detail kit parts that can be swapped out later rather than a single sealed unit. What's the difference between the two finish options?
Both have a steel back plate. The plain Steel option keeps the knob steel too, while the Steel and Brass option gives the knob and coin screws a warmer brass finish.

What bulbs can I dim with this switch?
Dimmable LED from 5 to 120W, or incandescent and halogen from 60 to 400W. Non dimmable LED bulbs may flicker rather than dim smoothly.

Will this fit my existing wall box?
