The G9 LED Capsule bulb (not supplied) sits behind the clear glass and its light passes straight through with minimal diffusion. This makes it a good choice for task lighting or any situation where you want to maximize output. The glass still contains the bulb visually, so you don't see the raw filament, but there's minimal softening.

Will a clear shade look too bright and harsh?
It depends on the bulb wattage and colour temperature you use. A warm white LED at 4 to 6 watts feels pleasant and diffused, while a higher wattage would be brighter. The clear glass contains the bulb, so it's not harsh, just unfiltered.

Should I use a clear shade in a bedroom?
Yes, as long as the fitting is positioned so you're not looking directly at the bulb. Side lighting works fine. If it's a bedside reading light you might prefer an amber or frosted shade instead.
