Why we chose MADE lighting
We do not add brands to our range simply because they are well known. Lighting has to bring something worthwhile to the wider collection, whether that is better engineering, a particular design language, unusual materials, a stronger price point or simply something our customers cannot already find everywhere else.
MADE manages to tick several of those boxes at once.
It is highly design-led, but it does not sit in the traditional high-end designer price bracket. That makes the range particularly interesting for homeowners renovating a property, interior designers specifying complete schemes, and anyone who wants lighting with a stronger point of view without necessarily spending four figures on every decorative fitting.
There is a freshness to the range too. Some products lean towards mid-century modernism, others are much more playful. There are pieces that work beautifully in pared-back contemporary interiors and others designed very deliberately to become a focal point.
That breadth matters. Not every home should look the same, and not every customer wants the same thing from their lighting.
What makes MADE lighting different?
Lighting has an unusual job in an interior. It has to work technically, but it also sits in the room all day, even when it is switched off. A fitting can therefore behave almost like a piece of furniture or sculpture.
MADE understands that very well.
Across the collection you will find coloured glass, smoked and ombré finishes, warm metallic details, tactile ceramic bases, woven rattan, dark timber and more restrained opal glass. The silhouettes are often simple at first glance, but there is usually one detail that gives the design its character.
That might be the coloured glass in Ilaria, the soft globe forms in Globe, the ribbed amber glass of Briz or the glossy ceramic base of Nell.

The MADE lighting collections we think are worth knowing
Ilaria: statement lighting without apology
If one range sums up the more expressive side of MADE, it is Ilaria.
The collection uses multiple rounded glass forms in different colours and arrangements to create lights that feel closer to decorative objects than conventional fittings. They work particularly well where the light is allowed to become part of the room: over a dining table, in a stairwell, in a hallway with height or as the main visual feature in a living space.
There are also more practical versions within the family. The collection includes flush ceiling lights and floor lamps as well as larger cluster pendants, so the look is not limited to homes with very high ceilings.
We particularly like the way Ilaria handles colour. It is bold, but the translucent glass stops it from feeling heavy. Even the more colourful versions still allow light and sightlines through the fitting.
Globe: a softer take on mid-century lighting
Globe sits at the more restrained end of the MADE collection, but it is still far from anonymous.
Rounded glass shades, brass details and clean proportions give the collection a distinctly mid-century feel without turning a room into a period pastiche. The green ombré versions are particularly good: enough colour to make the fitting interesting, but muted enough to sit comfortably with timber, natural fabrics and neutral walls.
The collection is also genuinely useful because the same design language appears across different fitting types. That means you can use a Globe ceiling light in one area and a coordinating wall or floor light elsewhere without making the room feel overly matched.
For lower ceilings, the flush Globe designs are especially worth looking at. A flush ceiling light does not have to disappear into the background, and Globe proves the point very well.
Briz: warm glass and softer pools of light
Briz is one of the ranges we would look at for a room that needs warmth rather than drama.
The amber-brown ribbed glass gives the light a softer appearance and adds texture even when the lamp is switched off. Paired with brass, it has a richer, warmer look that works particularly well in living rooms, bedrooms and reading corners.
It is also a good example of why decorative lighting does not need to mean a pendant. A table lamp can have just as much impact on the atmosphere of a room, particularly when used as part of a layered lighting scheme.
Instead of asking one central ceiling light to do everything, try combining ceiling lighting with table lamps, floor lamps and wall lights. The result is usually softer, more comfortable and much easier to adapt between daytime and evening.
Nell: retro influence, reworked for now
Nell is one of our favourites in the collection.
The glossy green ceramic base has an unmistakably retro influence, but the scale and exaggerated geometry make it feel much more contemporary than a straightforward vintage reproduction.
It is exactly the kind of fitting that can give a room personality without needing the rest of the interior to follow the same style. Put it in a mid-century-inspired room and it feels completely at home. Put it into a much simpler neutral interior and it becomes the piece that stops the scheme feeling too safe.
The ceramic finish is also important. We are seeing more interest in lighting that feels tactile and substantial rather than purely metallic or glass, and Nell fits that direction perfectly.
Nora: natural texture with stronger colour
Nora takes a different route again, combining a glossy coloured base with a woven rattan shade.
It is the mix of materials that makes it work. The rattan brings warmth and texture while the deeper burgundy tone gives the design enough weight to feel deliberate rather than rustic.
This is a useful direction for interiors that need natural materials but do not necessarily suit pale timber, cream and beige throughout. Natural texture can work just as well with richer colours.
Layla: darker, more architectural and more restrained
At the other end of the spectrum is Layla.
The Large Layla ceiling light uses dark wood, strong horizontal forms and softly glowing globes to create something much more architectural. It still has presence, but the effect is controlled rather than colourful.
We particularly like it over a dining table, where the width of the fitting helps visually anchor the furniture below. It is also a useful reminder that statement lighting does not have to mean crystal, brass or lots of decorative detail.
Sometimes shape and proportion are enough.
Which interior styles does MADE lighting suit?
One of the reasons MADE works so well as a lighting brand is that there is no single MADE look.
Mid-century modern
Look towards Globe, Nell and Layla. Rounded forms, warm metallic finishes, wood and coloured glass all sit naturally alongside walnut furniture, low-slung seating and stronger 1950s to 1970s references.
Scandinavian and relaxed contemporary
Choose simpler forms, natural textures and softer colours. Rattan, opal glass, timber and ceramic work particularly well where the wider room is restrained.
Minimalist interiors
Minimal does not have to mean invisible. A clean room often benefits from one fitting with a strong silhouette. Layla is a good example: visually interesting, but not fussy.
Maximalist and colour-led interiors
This is where Ilaria really comes into its own. If the room already uses art, colour, pattern or unusual furniture, a decorative light does not need to retreat into the ceiling. It can become part of the composition.
Modern eclectic interiors
This is perhaps where MADE feels most at home. Combining old and new, expensive and attainable, natural and polished materials is increasingly how real homes are put together. The range gives you enough variety to do that without everything looking as though it came from the same showroom set.
The lighting trends we are watching for AW26 and 2027
We are always cautious with the word “trend”. Good lighting should last much longer than a season.
But there are clear directions in interiors that are influencing the way people choose decorative lighting, and several of them are reflected very well in the MADE products currently available at Moonlight Design.
1. Colour is not going anywhere
For a long time, decorative lighting was dominated by black, brass, chrome and clear glass. Those finishes still have their place, but colour is now being treated much more confidently.
Ilaria is an obvious example. Coloured glass introduces personality without the visual weight of an opaque shade, while Globe shows how subtler greens and smoked tones can add colour in a quieter way.
2. Lighting is becoming more sculptural
More homeowners and designers are treating decorative lighting as part of the architecture and furnishing of a room rather than simply a source of illumination.
That favours designs with stronger silhouettes: clusters, oversized forms, unusual materials and fittings that still look interesting when switched off.
Ilaria and Layla approach this from completely different directions, but both work because the fitting itself has a clear shape and presence.
3. Warm glass is replacing overly stark lighting
Amber, smoked and tinted glass can soften both the appearance of the fitting and the atmosphere around it.
Briz is particularly good at this. Its amber-brown ribbed glass brings warmth and texture at the same time, making it well suited to rooms where evening atmosphere matters.
4. Ceramics and tactile materials are becoming more important
We expect to continue seeing more ceramic, woven and timber elements in decorative lighting.
These materials help a fitting feel connected to the rest of the interior rather than sitting separately from furniture and soft furnishings. Nell and Nora are strong examples from the MADE collection.
5. The “big light” is losing its monopoly
A well-lit room rarely relies on one fitting.
Ceiling lights are still important, but floor lamps, table lamps and wall lights are increasingly being used to create smaller pools of light around seating, artwork, bedsides and reading areas.
That is one of the strongest practical reasons to look at a collection such as MADE, because many of the design families extend beyond a single ceiling fitting.
How to choose the right MADE light for your room
For a dining room
Think first about the table rather than the room as a whole. A dining light should relate visually to the furniture below it.
For a longer table, a wider fitting or linear arrangement usually feels more balanced. For a round table, a cluster or central chandelier can work particularly well.
Layla is a strong option where you want width and structure, while Ilaria works beautifully if you want the lighting itself to become a talking point.
For a living room
Avoid expecting the ceiling light to do everything.
Use a central fitting for general illumination, then add lower-level light from table lamps and floor lamps. Briz and Nell are both excellent examples of fittings that can add warmth and character at eye level.
For a bedroom
Bedrooms generally benefit from softer lighting and more than one circuit or light source.
A decorative ceiling fitting can provide general light, while table lamps or wall lights beside the bed create a calmer evening setting. Warmer glass and fabric shades tend to work particularly well here.
For a hallway or stairwell
This is one of the best places to be more ambitious.
Hallways often have fewer pieces of furniture competing for attention, while stairwells can offer the extra height needed for a larger pendant or cluster. Ilaria is particularly effective in this kind of space.
For a low ceiling
Look specifically at flush and semi-flush fittings.
A lower ceiling does not mean you have to settle for a plain fitting. Globe, Ilaria and Briz all include options that keep the fitting closer to the ceiling while still giving the room a decorative focal point.
For a kitchen
Start with function. Worktops and preparation areas need good task lighting, but decorative lighting can then be layered over the top.
Pendants work particularly well over islands and dining areas, while flush fittings can be useful where ceiling height is tighter.
