mullan-parva-pendant-blue-earth
Mullan Parva Pendant - Blue Earth with Finish Options

Blue Earth and IP44: Natural Colour in a Tall Bathroom Pendant

The Parva Pendant in Blue Earth is a 30cm tall, 14cm wide IP44 rated bathroom pendant with the layered teal and ocean tones of the blue earth ceramic finish in a tall, upright form. A glass diffuser provides the IP44 certification while the blue earth ceramic body does the visual work above it. The colour is applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing, building up differently across every individual piece. In natural bathroom light the blue earth reads as cool and aquatic. With a warm E27 bulb in the evening the deeper blues and greens within the glaze come forward and the pendant creates a genuinely atmospheric quality above the bath.

How It Works

The glass diffuser at the base provides IP44 compliance and distributes the E27 bulb's light downward and outward into the bathroom. The tall blue earth ceramic body sits above, the colour shifting through the day as the quality of light around it changes. A warm white dimmable E27 LED is recommended to bring out the richer tones in the evening.

Where It Works Best

Above a freestanding bath the Blue Earth Parva adds natural colour and handmade craft quality to the space above the bath. In a shower room with pale stone or metro tiles it brings a distinctive and considered note. It pairs well with natural stone, white metro tiles and brushed or antique brass tapware.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the blue earth finish as a translation of the blues and greens of the Irish landscape into a hand painted ceramic glaze. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

Good to Know

Made to order in Mullan Village, Ireland.
