With over 30 years’ experience as a horticulturist and lighting designer, David combines his skills to create exciting yet practical lighting schemes for private and corporate clients, garden designers and landscape architects. David began his horticulture career as an apprentice for the Royal Parks, working at Buckingham Palace, Kensington Gardens, and Hyde Park. He later studied Commercial Horticultural at Writtle college for three years. He has held a number of management positions, which have included growing the indoor plants for 10 Downing Street, running a tropical and aquatic plant nursery, and working for Palmbrokers, where he created planting designs for films such as Saving Private Ryan, as well as TV and corporate events, including HRH Prince Charles’ 50th birthday party. In 2003 he set up Moonlight Design; specialising in high-end, bespoke lighting projects, it is now one of the UK’s leading lighting design companies and product suppliers. David and his fellow director, Phil Jackson, employ their own qualified electricians and use the latest cutting-edge products and technology to ensure that all of Moonlight’s schemes meet the exacting standards their clients demand.
One of the UK’s top lighting specialists, Phil has worked in the trade for more than 30 years, having initially learned his craft from his electrician father while still at school. He gained his experience as a garden lighting installer while working for celebrated lighting expert Peter Burian. Phil has installed interior and garden lighting systems for some of the country’s most prestigious residences and businesses, including an historic house on Belgrave Square, John Paul Getty’s former home, exclusive art galleries and state-of-the-art recording studios. He is a qualified NICEIC supervisor, and takes pride in every project he works on, relishing a challenge when confronted with complex or detailed commissions. Phil personally oversees Moonlight’s team of electricians to ensure the quality of work is always first class and that safety is prioritised. He and David work hand in glove to design and install innovative displays using the latest technologies, including colour-changing lighting sequencing controlled by smart phone. Their combined specialist knowledge and experience will transform your home, garden, or business into something truly magical.
